TCMS accepts applications throughout the school year.  Student names will be placed at the end of the waiting list (in the order in which they are received) for the respective grades, and you will receive a letter in the mail advising you of your child's number on the waiting list.

As openings occur, we will contact the next child on the waiting list.

Policy on notification of students on waiting list.

Policy on replacing students during the school year:

In order to ensure that all students who enter TCMS through the lottery system receive the appropriate time necessary for a successful transition into the school’s academic and learning environment structures, a student will be admitted only at the beginning of each quarter, exclusive of the 4th quarter and no later than the Friday immediately prior to the week of the third state survey period for FTE (funding purposes) which occurs in February. There shall be no exceptions to this rule.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

In order to be considerate of those students who are placed on the waiting list we ask, that if you accept the space at TCMS for your child and change your mind, you contact us no later than three weeks prior to the first day of school to let us know of your change of plans.

Paperwork for the new school year will be available on the school's website on Friday, July 11, 2008. IF PAPERWORK IS NOT RECEIVED FOR YOUR CHILD BY JULY 29, 2008,  YOUR CHILD WILL FORFEIT HIS/HER SPACE AND WE WILL CONTACT THE NEXT CHILD ON THE WAITING LIST. THIS APPLIES TO ALL STUDENTS - NEW AND RETURNING.  Your child's name will be placed at the end of the waiting list.

You will be notified by mail when the paperwork is uploaded.  It is the responsibility of the parents to contact the school if:

  • You do not have a computer with a printer;

  • Your physical address changes;

  • Your e-mail address changes;

  • You will be on vacation during those weeks and are unable to complete the paperwork;

Each year, we have a number of students who do not show up on the first day of school, which denies students on the waiting list who truly want to attend TCMS the opportunity to do so on the first day, or even the first week or two of school.  We do understand that circumstances may not allow you to do so, but we would appreciate your assistance in making sure that you contact us in a timely manner if you do not want your child to attend TCMS.

Applications for students who reside outside of the Hillsborough County school district will be accepted and included in the lottery provided they, upon selection and acceptance, adhere to special assignments requirements for both Hillsborough and the county of residence.

 TCMS Shadowing Policy

While Terrace Community Middle School does allow for potential and incoming students and their parent/guardian to undertake a guided prearranged group tour of the facility each month (with the exception of February and March due to FCAT testing)  TCMS does not permit shadowing.  Dates are predetermined by Principal and posted on the website.  The school's liability insurance does not cover non-TCMS students to be on the school premises attending classes at any time during the instructional day.

WHAT PARENTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT TCMS...

"The quality of teaching and the attention to our children at TCMS far surpasses many private school standards.  I would highly recommend TCMS to any student who wants to work hard and come up on top!"

"TCMS is a breath of fresh air.  Everyone seems dedicated and works so hard.  The level of academics is unmatched in the county.  Communication on a personal, one-to-one level is always available."

"Terrace Community Middle School has been a positive experience for my child. The school provides a wide variety of academics and experiences that prepare students for a variety of real-world situations.  It continues to be quite a beneficial experience."

"TCMS has a great (rigorous) program and prepares students well for IB or any good high school.  Teachers are well prepared for what is required of their students in the Hillsborough County School District.  TCMS has a well disciplined atmosphere than any regular public school."

"Having taught in both public and private schools and having had all four of my children in both public and private school, I can say, unequivocally, that here at TCMS we get a private school education and environment for free.  This is a savings of anywhere from $6,000 to $13,000 per child per year!"
